Unifi Protocol is a decentralized finance (DeFi) platform operating on blockchains, like Ethereum and Binance Smart Chain, offering various services such as decentralized exchanges and yield farming. It aims to provide a comprehensive suite of DeFi solutions for users in the blockchain ecosystem.
Baunfire was tasked to create an extremely immersive and interactive website that pushes the boundaries of what design and development can do with the sole purpose of creating a memorable brand impression.
The visuals of how we represent the blockchain was familiar and understandable in the industry, but the way we executed was a unique reflection of the general masses understanding of the blockchain.
In most conversations and interviews we had around this topic, the common knowledge all shared was that it was a digital space that engineers were building in to capture the physical world into the digital space while being responsible in trying to keep the technology sustainable. It was a common sentiment, said differently per person, but captures the general idea of the little understanding of the blockchain that most of their audiences had. We took this commonality and ran with it for the Art direction to make a connection of what they do understand about it and manifest it into a digital experience.
The idea was to push our current limits of design and development to reflect the state of where blockchain was where everyone was pushing the limits of technology in the wild west of crypto/blockchain.
Working very closely with PMs, and developers, we audited the current state of what's possible in development first and set guidelines from there to inform where the limits is in design. Looking through the GSAP library, lottie, and other tools we can leverage to help build such a unique site that creates a memorable digital experience.
The site launched as one of the most unique sites the clients have seen, the agency had designed + developed, and gaining recognition within the design industry winning awards and features on design sites.
This was one of the few projects that really tested the current knowledge of both the designers, PMs, and developers to test the limits and understand where the technical constraints were.
